How do versioned teams work?
Versioned Teams captures weekly snapshots of your organization’s team structure to maintain historical accuracy in reports and enable rollback to previous states. DX automatically creates these snapshots (typically on Saturdays), preserving exactly which developers were on which teams at that point in time.
Frequently asked questions
Why does historical team structure matter for reports?
Without Versioned Teams, reports apply your current team structure to the past. If a developer moves from “Team A” to “Team B” today, their last 6 months of work would retroactively appear under “Team B.” With Versioned Teams, work done while a developer was on “Team A” stays attributed to “Team A,” and per-developer metrics use accurate headcounts from each time period.
Can I restore my team structure to a previous state?
Yes. Because Versioned Teams serve as a backup of your organization’s entire hierarchy, they can be used to restore your live teams to a previous state.
Do I need to manually create team versions?
No. Versioned Teams are captured automatically based on your live team data. If you need to make adjustments to historical team versions—for example, to correct a mistake in a past organizational structure—contact your DX rep for assistance.
