Dashboard

The DX Dashboard provides both individual contributors and team leads with a comprehensive view of pull requests, issues, and key engineering metrics, helping teams track progress and identify areas for improvement.

Note: The Dashboard and system-based Core 4 metrics are only available to Data Cloud customers who have DX AI enabled. Customers only using DevEx Cloud will see survey-based Core 4 metrics as their main landing page when logging into DX.

Organization dashboard

The Organization dashboard provides executives and leaders with a high-level overview of how all teams together are performing in your org.

DX Org Dashboard

Core 4

The Core 4 tab displays a roll-up of the Core 4 across all teams, with additional breakdowns per team accessible for each metric.

Metrics overview

The Metrics overview tab is a customizable view of important metrics for your organization. To change which metrics are displayed, click Manage and select the metrics most relevant to you.

Pinned reports

Any out of the box or custom reports you have set up in Data Studio can also be added to the Organization dashboard by clicking the + button at the end of the list of tabs.

You can choose to either add a single report which will display full-screen as its own tab, or a tab which contains multiple reports as tiles. When setting up a tab with multiple reports as tiles, only default DX reports are supported.

Group dashboard

The Group dashboard provides EMs and team leads an overview and detailed breakdowns into how their team is performing.

DX Team Dashboard

Overview

The Overview tab shows the Core 4 metrics for your team, with more details under each of the four metrics. The Dashboard can display the Core 4 with either system-based or survey-based metrics as a base (with the exception of DXI, which is always survey-based by nature).

Pull requests

The Pull requests tab displays a list of PRs related to your team along with contextual information around the status of each.

Issues

The Issues tab displays a list of issues (e.g. from Linear, Jira, etc.) related to your team along with contextual information around the status of each.

Reports

The Reports tab is a customizable view of important metrics for your team. To change which metrics are displayed, click Manage and select the metrics most relevant to you.

Most out of the box reports as well as any custom reports you have set up in Data Studio can also be pinned to the Group dashboard by clicking the + button. Custom reports that are added will be filtered down to only show data relevant to the group you are looking at in the dashboard.

You can choose to either add a single report which will display full-screen as its own tab, or a tab which contains multiple reports as tiles. When setting up a tab with multiple reports as tiles, only default DX reports are supported.

Insights

The Insights tab shows a list of intelligently surfaced variations in data that your team cares about. Insights are intended to give you a picture into trends and behaviors over time, without you needing to hunt for them. Currently, insights are discovered against realtime, pull-request based data. Each insight has a human-readable explanation of why it was flagged and a chart showing the trend that led to its discovery. In the event that an insight is incorrect or unhelpful, it can be marked as such.

Insights are generated on a weekly basis, and will populate when:

  • Your team has sufficient PR activity. DX needs a meaningful volume of merged pull requests—both in the current week and over the preceding weeks—to establish a reliable baseline and detect meaningful changes.
  • Enough historical data exists. Insights require approximately 8 weeks of data to build a baseline for comparison. Newer groups may need to wait for this history to accumulate.
  • A significant change is detected. Insights surface when DX identifies a notable shift from your team’s typical patterns—either a sudden change or a sustained trend over multiple weeks.

SLAs

The SLAs tab allows you to set up and manage per-group SLAs, which you can use to track your team commitments around various delivery-related metrics.

Scorecard tasks

The Scorecard tasks tab shows a list of outstanding tasks for scorecard initiatives that your team owns.

Group management

Clicking •••Manage group, you can edit details of the group you’re currently viewing on the dashboard as well as add/remove members.

Personal dashboard

The Personal dashboard provides ICs on your team a single spot to easily see relevant information about their PRs, tasks, and metrics around how they are performing.

DX Personal Dashboard

Pull requests and issues

The Personal dashboard offers a unified view of pull requests and issues, making it easy for ICs to see where their attention is needed and manage their code and task responsibilities efficiently:

  • PRs waiting for review: Shows a list of pull requests that require feedback, so code reviews keep moving efficiently.
  • Open PRs: Helps ICs track all pull requests they have opened, along with their current status, to monitor progress and follow up as needed.
  • Open issues: Shows ICs issues assigned to them (from tools like Jira or Linear), making it easy to prioritize and manage their workload.

Personal breakdowns

The Personal dashboard also shows ICs breakdowns and trends around the following metrics:

  • Time allocation: Gives a breakdown of time spent across different work categories, with trends over time. See more in the time allocation report.
  • Review activity: Gives a breakdown of code review count and average turnaround time, including historical trends.
  • PR throughput: Gives a breakdown of pull requests being merged. See more in the PR throughput report.

Configuring individual metrics visibility

By default, Dashboard shows individual metrics alongside team metrics. This can be disabled without affecting other reporting features across DX:

  1. Go to DXSettingsGeneral.
  2. Under Individual metrics visibility, select whether you want individual metrics enabled for Dashboard or not.
  3. Click Update settings.

FAQs

At launch, the Dashboard supports PR allocation as a base metric for realtime Impact and Quality in the Core 4. This will be expanding to other metrics in the future.

The Dashboard is currently only for available Data Cloud customers and not customers who only use DevEx Cloud. Customers only using DevEx Cloud will see the the Core 4 overview as the landing page when logging into DX instead of the Dashboard.

The Dashboard currently can’t be disabled on a per-account basis.
