Roles
All DX users have broad access to most of the reports and features across the platform, and roles are broken down into three types:
- Core Persona roles affect how users have access to multiple core features across the product.
- Elevated roles build on top of permissions granted by the core persona roles to dictate more specific access to different parts of the product.
- Sensitive data roles allow users to access and make changes to sensitive data within various parts of the platform, such as salary and attrition data.
All users must be assigned a core persona role. In addition to their core persona role, users can be assigned any combination of elevated and sensitive data roles (or none at all). When a user has multiple roles, their total set of permissions is just the combination of all permissions granted by each role.
All core persona, elevated, and sensitive data roles are listed below. For a full list of how each role maps to all permissions, see Permissions.
User roles can be assigned in the admin area or managed via SCIM.
Core persona roles
Contributor
Contributors (i.e., DX team members) are the subjects of surveys and reports across the DX platform. They also have access to reports, including global snapshots and analytics.
Team lead
Team leads (i.e., DX team managers) can access reports across the platform, including global views. They also have access to complete the triage process for their team snapshot results.
Workspace admin
Workspace admins have full access to all reports and most features in DX, including user and organization management.
Elevated roles
Survey and Snapshot roles
These roles affect how users can access surveys and the reports created with their results.
Snapshot admin
Snapshot admins can manage snapshot settings, including scheduling, questions, and org data. They can also access special features such as exporting PDF reports and reviewing quarantined survey comments.
Open snapshots can only be closed by Snapshot admins. (or Workplace admins if there are no Snapshot admin users)
Snapshot analyst
Snapshot analysts have read-only access to snapshot settings and reporting features, including the ability to export PDF reports and view snapshot triage results.
Snapshot observer
Snapshot observers receive notifications when a snapshot launches and when results are ready, regardless of their team assignment. Unlike Snapshot admins or analysts, this role is designed purely for high-level awareness of the snapshot lifecycle and does not include access to configuration settings or administrative tools.
Database roles
These roles define how users can interact with the DX data lake and data connectors.
Database admin
Database admins have full control over your DX data lake. This includes managing data connectors, database users, API tokens, service catalog schemas, and report collections.
Data integrator
Data integrators can create and update deploy rules but do not have access to manage data connectors, database users, API tokens, or report collections.
Fabric roles
These roles are for performing actions specific to the DX Fabric product.
Scorecard admin
Scorecard admins can view and manage all scorecards in DX. While any user can create private scorecards, only scorecard admins can make scorecards visible across the organization.
Self-service admin
Self-service admins can create, edit and delete self-service workflows in DX. While any user can trigger the execution and view existing workflows for self-service, only self-service admins can make changes to these workflows or view full run history.
Sensitive data roles
These roles are built to provide only specific users with access to various forms of sensitive data across DX.
Privileged user
Privileged users can access reports containing potentially sensitive information—namely, Attrition Risk, CapEx, and new hire ramp-up metrics. They do not have access to any administrative capabilities in DX.
Interviewer
Interviewers can create Studies and PlatformX projects but do not have access to other restricted features or administrative capabilities in DX.
Finance manager
Finance managers can view and upload salary data for the CapEx report. Due to the highly sensitive nature of individual salary information, your account’s first finance manager user must be assigned by your DX account manager. Finance managers can grant the role to others.
