# AI code percentage
The **AI code percentage** report measures the share of code changes in commits that were generated by AI tools. Use this metric to track AI coding adoption across your organization over time.

> **Note**: This report requires [AI Code Insights](https://docs.getdx.com/ai-code-insights/overview/) to be enabled. Data only appears after the first AI code commit data point is received in your organization. Enable AI Code Insights at **DX** -> **Admin** -> **AI Code Insights**.

## When to use AI code percentage

AI code percentage answers the question: _What share of our code output is AI-generated?_

This report helps teams:

- **Track AI code over time** — Monitor whether AI-generated code is increasing, plateauing, or declining week over week.
- **Benchmark across teams** — Break down AI code percentage by team, repository, or attribute group to see where AI tooling has the most traction.
- **Set adoption targets** — Establish a baseline and measure progress toward organizational goals for AI-assisted development.

### Code filtering

By default, the report will track AI code percentage across all commits with classification data recorded by the AI Code Insights daemon.

If `pull_request_commits` data is available, the report can be limited to "Merged code", which will only include recorded commits that are associated with merged pull requests.
