# Why am I seeing an error message on the DX tab in Spotify Backstage?
This error often occurs if the required sync between the Backstage frontend and backend plugins has not been successfully completed. When this sync hasn’t occurred, the schema may not be created, leading to the error message.

To resolve this ensure that the Backstage backend plugin is set up correctly. The backend plugin is necessary for the frontend plugin to function as expected. You can find the instructions in Step 2 of the [frontend plugin README](https://github.com/get-dx/backstage-plugin).
